Arrested Fashion: Made in the Shade Part II

We've already taken a look at the Bluth parents and their amazing shades. The Bluth kids (and their partners) carry on the tradition of stellar sunwear.

Sometimes you buy a car for the sunglasses.

Arrested Fashion: Made in the Shade

When you live in the OC ("Don't Call it that!"), sunglasses are essential. As a convertible driver in California, I feel the same way. In this post we'll look at the vintage sunglasses of the vintage Bluths: Lucille, George Senior and Oscar. Lucille's signature oversize gold frames are the most recognizable of the Bluth family sunglasses:

High School Photo Class: Exteriors

My best friend Edwin has been spending his last days in Paris burning through as much black and white film as possible.  Seeing his lovely new photos (here) has inspired my to share some of my own. We start close to home and then continue on to Paris.

Sproul Hall, UC Berkeley
I'm pretty sure I took this snap of Sproul well before I knew I was going to be a Golden Bear.   The below pics were taken on my first trip to France in 2004. I accidentally used color film on one roll, but insisted on developing it in class using the black and white process with a like a million filters. I think they came out looking old fashioned which goes well with the subject matter.

Musings: Google Search Keywords

I love keeping an eye on my the origin of traffic to this blog (see my Visitor Map). In addition to my enthusiasm for the geographic diversity of my readers, I'm also amused to see the search keywords that lead people to my postings. I love when people find exactly what they seem to be looking for in one of my posts, or when they end up in completely the wrong place. Here are the keyword search terms from today:
  • affordable michelle obama fashion
  • liza minnelli sequent jackets fashion
  • portia de rossi, opera gloves (google.no (Norway), no less!)
  •  tobias funke socks with sandals
The fact that there is a person out there googling 'tobias funke socks with sandals' gives me hope for humanity and that I will find my soul mate.

Here are a few other notable searches.
  • eminem jacket in beautiful
  • are bold Hawaiian prints in (YES, they are)
  • eminem style fashion
  • high waisted plus size retro bikini
  • red and white polka hats
  • would an underwire retro balconnet top look good on a small chest? (YES, it would)
  • lindsay bluth tie
  • bronze one piece swimsuit
  • cameo on arrested development
  • george michael fashion
I'm pretty sure most of the people (mostly of Irish and UK origin) searching "George Michael fashion" weren't looking for George Michael Bluth, but the other George Micheal, the 'singer songwriter' as GM Bluth calls him.

And finally, my the all time searched keywords (with a total of 22 searches) that brings people to my blog: "jessica walter", aka Lucille Bluth. I'm proud to be one of the interwebs main authorities on Lucille Bluth related topics.

Ad Musings: Disney Dreams

Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz reprises her work with Disney with another installment in her enchanted ad campaign for Disney Parks. The ads feature celebrities posed as our favorite Disney characters. Because what are celebrities if not our modern day princesses, heroes and villains?  Here are a few of my favorite new images, plus a couple from past seasons as well. If you're itching for more, head on over to Huff Po for their slideshow. Also check out the behind the scenes video from the shoot over at Disney.

This first one is my favorite from the new campaign and features Jeff Bridges as The Prince and Penelope Cruz as Belle.  It combines elements from two of my all time favorite movies, The Big Lebowski and Beauty and the Beast. Make sure to click on the pics for more detail.

Julianne Moore as Ariel & Michael Phelps as a merman
Alec Baldwin as the Spirit in the Mirror, Olivia Wilde as the Evil Queen

Arrested Fashion: Fur

Much like robes, animal skin-based clothing is a staple in the Bluth family wardrobe. They maintain the illusion of their lifestyle by wearing lots of fur and leather. I've already taken a brief look at the Bluths and leather here. Today we'll be looking at the Bluths furry fashion highlights, plus a look at my vintage fur and my fur philosophy.

Red Carpet Rundown: Cannes

As per usual, The Cannes Film Festival has given us couture watchers plenty of lovely dresses to admire.  I feel like I should have commentary on the movies, but I'll save that for once I see them. Here are a few of my favorites. If you want to see more, check out Harper's Bazaar's slideshow.

Rachel McAdams pant and sparkly bustier ensemble is a nice alternative to a dress. Her Brigitte Bardot inspired hair is a cute homage to French cinema at Cannes.

Tilda Swinton always brings it, and whether you like whatever it is or not, the woman is perfect for couture. I love the draping on this one.

Musings: Clogs

Ever since I was little, I have been a fan of Hanna Andersson Swedish Clogs. The classic wood soles are surprisingly comfortable and of course durable. I've always though of clogs as a fashion statement, but this season they're especially hot with all the '70s trends out there.  Click on through for a few more cute pairs that will look cute with shorts, flares, and maxi skirts alike!

Musings: Prom!

It's that time of year again! I'm pretty sure I don't have very many readers in the high school age bracket, but who knows. I'm going to take a moment to share my Prom looks, philosophy (thrift store dresses and then splurge on accessories!), and suggestions for great dresses (traditional and non). While these selections are chosen with a High School Prom in mind, but many of them would also be cute for a guest at a summer wedding or other grown up event.

Hair by Sharon Jackson--head on over to her Salon's site if you're looking for a great hair stylist in Davis.
My thrift store dress featured a velvet bodice embellished with paillettes and a satin skirt.
I found this dress with a lovely bustle in the back at a consignment store in Palm Beach, Florida.

Well that's enough of my dresses. After the jump, there are lots more unique dresses and jewelry perfect for any evening occasion.
