Bold Colors for Work

Next month,  I will be starting my placement in the school where I will be student teaching. I'd like to get a few new pieces to start building my professional wardrobe. Finding plus-size dress pants and suiting that fits me is going to be a challenge. Luckily, summer weather in the Central Valley continues until October, so pants and blazer weather is still a ways off.  I've already done posts on stripes and florals, so today I'm going to feature bold solids (one polka dot slips in). Here are some work-appropriate dresses, skirts and blouses I'm checking out.

Dresses:
ModCloth (Sizes S-3X)
ModCloth

I've just ordered this one, so excited to wear it to my school assignment:

Forever 21+
Dorothy Perkins (UK Sizes 6-22)
Bottoms:
The midi-skirt trend this season is especially great for office-appropriate dressing. They are coming in a rainbow of bold colors, perfect for color-blocking:

  2. How exciting! I'd love to see a post on that if she's willing. Since I don't know my placement school yet, I have no idea as to their dress code. Unless it's an Amish school with a no color rule, I think all of these will be fine. What I really need to do once the weather cools is focus on foundational basics, but those are so hard to fit! Perhaps once I get my first teaching job and am rolling in dough, I could have you help me too.

  3. These are all so cute! I especially love ModCloth (OF COURSE) but their prices are just too damn high for just-out-of-college folks like us! I just end up bookmarking and never actually purchasing anything from their site...

  15. We don't have to dress up for work - which is great and horrible at the same time. I love being able to thrown on jeans and head out, but at the same time I miss fun work attire like you've featured in this post.
