Old Navy T/Vintage Scarf bought in Toulouse |
I'm a big fan of stripes. I hate to call them a trend, since there is nothing more classic than a Breton-style stripe, but this season we are seeing a lot of fun permutations (thick, thin, pinstripes, chevron, color blocked, ombré, vertical, horizontal, and more!) worthy of your attention. There's something that can work on everyone. Here are some cute Ts and dresses to consider, plus some of (most of) the striped pieces in my closet.
Classic Blue & White:
I don't really care for the rule that larger girls shouldn't wear horizontal stripes of any kind. Of course some looks are more flattering than others, and it is important as always to think about fit. Just wear what makes you feel fabulous.

And of course the most important of all stripes, Yankee pinstripes (image via The Sports Bank) |

ASOS |
Michelle has gotten into the stripes act recently with this dress. It was only $189 at Talbot's (of course since Michelle wore it it has long sold old out) How flattering are those chevron stripes?

Multi-Colored Stripes:
I love stripes! I can't pull them off though wahhh :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog :)
I'm not actually sure if I can pull them off either, but that doesn't stop me from wearing them. That's why just a shirt with a dark bottom is good (my b&w ON one is ultra-flattering, the A-line ASOS one I'm sure would be too). The full stripe fitted dresses are, to be fair, best left to professionals and the amateur thin.
ReplyDeleteI have to confess I was not very into stripes, but I have tried them now more often and Im loving them, specially in colors!!

I'm such a fan of stripes. I'm not sure how that obsession developed, but I find myself gravitating toward stripes. Over and over and over. I love the unique shapes that the Modcloth pieces offer.
ReplyDeleteyou'll never see me in horizontal stripes, but diagonal ones are totally the way to go. So slimming.
