Michelle Obama and her affordable BR tote!
Banana Republic |
She looked lovely leaving on her trip to Brazil in a Marc by Marc Jacobs ($628) dress and her $120 Banana Republic tote bag. After all, who better than Banana Republic to dress you for a South American vacation? (If that joke went by you, click here)
For a more casual option I've found another cute striped Marc by Marc dress and paired it with another one of our great leather totes for a cute summer vacation look.

Style Icon: Lucille "2" Austero
At the Desi awards, which recognize excellence in Spanish language daytime television. |
Lucille Austero is Lucille Bluth's best frienemy and counterpart, and their dressing has a lot in common. Both favor sequins for their many evening events. Both have impressive collections of fine and costume jewelry. Perhaps these similarities are why 2/3 of Lucille Bluth's sons are attracted to the Widow Austero. However, as Lucille 2 is curvier and a little older than her bestie, she tends to favor more flowing and less tailored silhouettes.

Arrested Development: Cameos
One element of Arrested Development's multi-faceted awesomeness is its random cameos from well known comedic actors. Here I outline the cameos from stars of my other favorite TV shows.
Ed Helms: Daily Show Correspondent, 2002-2006. On Arrested Development, he cameos as Realtor James who invites Lindsay to an open house, which she accidentally interprets as a date.

Arrested Fashion: Swimwear
When one lives a life of leisure in Newport Beach, sunglasses are not the only outdoor essential. Fashionable swimwear is also important. Here's a look at the Bluths' aquatic highlights, plus, as always, some pieces you can make your own.

Musings: Retro Bikinis
As you guys have already seen in my one piece swimsuit post, I'm really excited for all the adorable retro-inspired swimwear this season. I'm especially excited for high-waisted bikini bottoms. They give those of us with not quite camera-ready tummies the opportunity to get a little color on our midsection. Here are a view different categories of retro bikinis we're seeing this season.
Sporty Beach Bombshell:
Taking inspiration from a couple of Bond girls, a monochromatic two piece with fun retro accents shows off an adventure ready physique.
You don't have to wear a dive knife to recreate this look, here's a belted suit that you can wear to the pool without getting dirty looks (well at least not because of the knife):
Read on for more vintage inspired two-pieces in classic black and white, delicate florals, bright colors and graphics, and bold florals!

A Bold Hawaiian Print Dress
I love this pattern, it reminds me of George Michael Bluth's vintage inspired tropical print shirts. I think Old Navy Women's Plus size dresses are often cuter and better constructed than those in the standard line. I'll almost be sad when I'm too small for the 1X! Except that I'll be too busy being happy that I'm too small for the 1X. This jersey style with the tie belt is ultra flattering. Note: this particular style from Spring is no longer available, but there are plenty of other great styles this season!
Alternate jewelry option: I couldn't decide which color brooch worked best, so I pinned both on. |

Happy Mother's Day! The Best of Lucille Bluth
Make your mommy feel special this Mother's Day! |
I've already introduced Lucille Bluth's fashion with Lucille Bluth: Style Icon, she also features prominently in my Bluth sunglasses, fur, and robes posts. On this Mother's Day, I'm going to share lots of great Lucille looks and thoughts on motherhood.
She's always been there to hold your hand. (Our first look of Lucille's favorite pink pearl bracelet, it will come up several more times) |
