Merry Christmas from Maeby Fünke

This is my first post focused on Maeby's style. I have yet to do one because her tastes are so varying and trend driving, she is harder is harder to deconstruct than the other more consistent characters. That being said, I love her holiday looks. Here they are, along with some pieces inspired by them.

Holiday Look 1: "Afternoon Delight"

I couldn't find a floral sweater similar to Maeby's, but here are a coupled of pieces that would mimic the  bold print and scarf holiday for a family holiday party:

Stage Style Icon: Gob Bluth

Apparently, Arrested Development is coming back in a very real way. Read all about it over at the NYT's Art Blog. I'm trying to manage my emotions, but I'm pretty psyched. I haven't done a Bluth Style post in a while, so today I've collected some images of Gob in his stage costume. As a performer, Gob understands the necessity of costume both for form and function. Here are a few examples:

Arrested Fashion: Bluth Wedding Style

The Bluths love a family gathering. And what family gathering is more important than a wedding. They step up their style appropriately.

What says summer more than a graphic t-shirt, a pair of flip-flops and some cute shades? Today I'm going to share my collections of all three, plus as always, a few links where you can find the same styles. Arrested Fashion: Fur

Much like robes, animal skin-based clothing is a staple in the Bluth family wardrobe. They maintain the illusion of their lifestyle by wearing lots of fur and leather. I've already taken a brief look at the Bluths and leather here. Today we'll be looking at the Bluths furry fashion highlights, plus a look at my vintage fur and my fur philosophy.

When one lives a life of leisure in Newport Beach, sunglasses are not the only outdoor essential. Fashionable swimwear is also important. Here's a look at the Bluths' aquatic highlights, plus, as always, some pieces you can make your own.

Arrested Fashion: Motherboy

Mother's Day is just around the corner (Sunday May 8th in the US, international readers, check your calenders).  Have you figured out how you're going to let Mom know you care this year?

Matching outfits are one way to demonstrate and strengthen the bond between parent and child. Lucille and Buster Bluth take this bond to another level with their participation (25 times) in Motherboy, a dinner dance celebrating Mother-Son bonding.

Lucille and Buster are not the only Bluths to coordinate their outfits, Michael and Gob and their respective sons also get in on the fun. 

Arrested Fashion: Leather

Much like robes, animal skin-based clothing is a staple in the Bluth family wardrobe. They maintain the illusion of their lifestyle by wearing lots of fur and leather.

One of Gob's signature pieces is his striped leather motorcycle (or in his case Segway) jacket:

The following exchange shows introduces the Bluths' opinions on cows:

Lindsay: Leather chair? So you're against stealing but skinning cows is cool?
Michael: Since when are you against leather?
Maeby:Yeah, you're not even a vegetarian.
L: I'm not against the insides, people need meet to survive.
Michael: You're aware they don't remove it from the cow surgically, right?

Maeby: This stuff's kind of hot, right?
George Michael: I hadn't noticed.

In a misguided attempt to impress his daughter, Tobias going shopping for his own leather ensemble:

Tobias: I'm looking for something that says 'Dad likes leather'
Salesman: Something that says, 'leather daddy'?
T: Oh, is there such a thing?

Look at us, who'd want to mess with any of us?

Arrested Fashion: Robes & Slippies

"I don't want you thinking your uncle is some sleazy character from the docks"

On Arrested Development, robes of all stripes are featured prominently on both men and women. Silk, terry cloth, kimono style, they're all there. A life of leisure requires an extensive robe wardrobe.
