Daytime Sequins

This weekend I visited my best friend Edwin in San Francisco. Since it was Pride weekend, I wanted to add a little sparkle via this paillette-encrusted blouse.

What I Wore: Last Day at Gap Inc.

Is it my cutest Gap Brand ensemble I've worn to work? No, but it was my last one, so that makes it noteworthy.  I paired this season's button front skirt (which is running big, so size down. I'm wearing an 18 for a point of reference) with a retro logo T from last season. Is the fact of the sun setting on Old Navy a metaphor for starting a new chapter in my life? Probably not. I'm wearing my new Lucille Bluth-style Andrea Jovine shades.

The Tie-Dye Continues...

Old Navy Denim Vest
Among the benefits of living at home with one's parents after college, in addition to the financial solvency, is the ability to continue sharing clothes with your Mom. The dress and all of the necklaces I pair with it are from my Mom's collection.
I especially love this jade pendant!
After the jump, more variations on this outfit and a look at my jewelry collection and organization system!

Denim Geography: International Edition

Now that you've completed Lesson 1: North America, we continue our world tour through denim color names. We see denim rinses named after locales in Europe, Asia and beyond. Why do they choose these names? Some make sense, most don't. But if you like geography and denim, read on....

Denim Georgraphy: North America

Naming jeans' colors is quite a hard business. Apparently, many color experts have just given up and chose nonsensical names.  I've recently noticed lots of colors named after geographical terms.  Most of the names tell us nothing about the color of wash itself.  That being said, I find it amusing to associate the jean's color with its namesake locale.

Sacramento, CA: To start off close to home, a pair I'm seriously considering trying just because of the name:
Old Navy Mid-Rise Denim-Bermudas in the color "Sacramento"
Yahi: An extinct Northern California Native dialect. The last known speaker was Ishi. I'm not going to go into Ishi's amazing story, but you should really look into him if you're not already familiar.

Speakers of the Yahi lived the area around what is today Butte county. Read more about them here.

Yes We Can! [wear] Denim on Denim

Many of us remember this historic all denim "don't" at the 2001 American Music Awards (not that we actually watch second rate award shows):

I'm not going to fully analyze this poor fashion choice from a decade ago, but some key lessons we can take are: don't wear denim of any kind to an awards show (except the MTV Movie Awards), and just say no to denim fedoras.  Finally, whether or not your outfit is televised,  it's best not to dress in all denim if your date is. While these outfits are a cautionary tale, you need not fear, you can wear two denim pieces together!

After the jump, I am inspired by yet another Arrested Development character to create an all denim ensemble from Piperlime.
