Musings: Green Shoes Galore

 ModCloth: Keen on Kelly Wedge

Today I'm going to talk about (i.e. post pictures of) bright green shoes. I recently consigned this pair (below) that I wore on my 21st Birthday in France. They lived a full life that night. It was time for them to move on after having been worn only once or twice since. I'll always have the pictures and the memories.

Miss Sixty

But of course, now, I have a green shoe-sized hole in my heart (closet). I also just got a really cute navy dress with green polka dots, and am thus looking for a cute but comfortable shoe to go with it to wear to school. With that said, here are some of the adorable green shoes out there that caught my eye.

Chartreuse Be Told Flat

My friend Jess got these affordable little chartreuse oxfords while we were checking out a boutique in SF (Sway) a couple weeks ago. They are too cute, and the color more vibrant in real life.

After the jump, as you would expect, lots more green shoes.

Arrested Fashion: Bluth Wedding Style

The Bluths love a family gathering. And what family gathering is more important than a wedding. They step up their style appropriately.

Plus-Size Work Basics

As I mentioned in my last post, I'm starting school and the placement in the school where I will be student teaching next month. I'm projecting my anxiety onto concern about my wardrobe. I don't own one white shirt or one pair of black pants. But since I'm just learning to be a teacher, I'm not rolling in the dough quite yet. My host teacher has assured me that the dress code is business casual, so there's no reason for immediate concern.  That being said, here are some basic white button-downs and work pants that I'm eying to pair with the bold colors from my last post.

Bold Colors for Work

Next month,  I will be starting my placement in the school where I will be student teaching. I'd like to get a few new pieces to start building my professional wardrobe. Finding plus-size dress pants and suiting that fits me is going to be a challenge. Luckily, summer weather in the Central Valley continues until October, so pants and blazer weather is still a ways off.  I've already done posts on stripes and florals, so today I'm going to feature bold solids (one polka dot slips in). Here are some work-appropriate dresses, skirts and blouses I'm checking out.

Red Carpet Rundown: Harry Potter

So I waited too long to get my Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II tickets, and by the time we go our act together all the midnight shows in our area (seven in Davis alone), were sold out. My Dad and I instead are off to Natomas to see it today at 11 AM.  To get myself even more excited for the movie, I've decided to feature the Harry Potter cast on the red carpet.  Here are some of the notable choices the cast made in  London and New York. Starting off in London:

It's all about Emma Watson, as per usual. I suggest you check out this great slideshow over at NY Mag of her style evolution at the premieres, from little girl to grown-up glamazon.

Musings: Ombré Nails

All the cool girls in the blogosphere seem to be rocking ombré nails (see my French style terms post for more on the term). So of course I had to get in on the act. Here are a few of the lovely examples I've seen:

After the jump, more inspiration and my first attempt.

Man Musings: Charlie Day

Last Saturday I saw Horrible Bosses. I've already discussed my love for Jason Bateman in detail.  So you guys know how I'm a sucker for funny men with boyish faces. I also am a big It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Thus, I'm a Charlie Day fan.  He was really funny (I thought) in Horrible Bosses. Adorably ridiculous, as per usual. Here are a few pictures that show why this Julia and Dr. Julia (Jen Aniston) in the movie, are both fans of this guy (or at least his characters).
