Next month, I will be starting my placement in the school where I will be student teaching. I'd like to get a few new pieces to start building my professional wardrobe. Finding plus-size dress pants and suiting that fits me is going to be a challenge. Luckily, summer weather in the Central Valley continues until October, so pants and blazer weather is still a ways off. I've already done posts on
stripes and
florals, so today I'm going to feature bold solids (one polka dot slips in). Here are some work-appropriate dresses, skirts and blouses I'm checking out.
Dresses:
I've just ordered this one, so excited to wear it to my school assignment:
Bottoms:
The midi-skirt trend this season is especially great for office-appropriate dressing. They are coming in a rainbow of bold colors, perfect for color-blocking:
I already have these hose in purple, and at only $5 each I'm definitely getting a several more!
Blouses:
love all the colors in this post! i've just taken on my first personal styling job - a family friend is starting her job teaching and she hasn't shopped in 10 years!

How exciting! I'd love to see a post on that if she's willing. Since I don't know my placement school yet, I have no idea as to their dress code. Unless it's an Amish school with a no color rule, I think all of these will be fine. What I really need to do once the weather cools is focus on foundational basics, but those are so hard to fit! Perhaps once I get my first teaching job and am rolling in dough, I could have you help me too.
ReplyDeleteget the dorothy perkins skirts!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so cute! I especially love ModCloth (OF COURSE) but their prices are just too damn high for just-out-of-college folks like us! I just end up bookmarking and never actually purchasing anything from their site...
ReplyDeleteYou have such amazing style! I always love to see what kind of clothes you're looking at- it gives me good ideas :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving the Modcloth dresses as well as the Forever21 polka dot one! How fun is that? The colorful skirts are great, as well!

ReplyDeleteI really like these different dresses and skirts and I think they will be appropriate for the most part for a student teaching job. Color is just always so much more fun!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have to dress up for work - which is great and horrible at the same time. I love being able to thrown on jeans and head out, but at the same time I miss fun work attire like you've featured in this post.
